Let us explain about the relaxation time of electrons
Explanation:
Relaxation time ( time of free travel)
It is defined as the" average time interval between two successive collisions of electrons."
Relaxation time depends upon the number of collisions occurring per unit area per unit time .
This further depends upon :
Temperature
With the decrease in temperature the number of collisions of electrons also decreases, hence there is increase in relaxation time.
Resistance of conductor
Also, we know that the resistance is inversely proportional to relaxation time. we also know that with decrease in temperature ,there is decrease in resistance as well, hence relaxation time increases.
