If
3x + 5y = 9
and
5x + 3y = 7
then find the value of
x + y

Answer:

3x + 5y = 9 \\  \\ 5x + 3y = 7

multiplying equation 1 with 5

and equation 2 with 3

therefore

15x + 25y = 45

15x + 9y = 21

subtracting both equation

then we get

16y = 24 \\ y =  \frac{3}{2}

therefore

x =  \frac{1}{2}

x+y=2
