a^2+b^2 = 13

a^2+b^2 = 1+12 (or) a^2+b^2 = 25-12

a^2+b^2-2(6)= 1 (or) a^2+b^2+2(6) = 25

a^2 + b^2 - 2ab = 1 (or) a^2 + b^2 + 2ab = 25

[a-b]^2 = 1 (or) [a+b]^2 = 25

a-b = root 1 (or) a+b = root 25

a-b = +- 1 and a+b = +-5

Hope this helps you
