If  \frac{4}{5} , a, 2 are three consecutive terms of an A.P., then find the value of a.

 Let a1 = 4/5 , a2 = a and a3 = 2

If Terms are in A.P, then the common difference (d) of any two consecutive terms is same.  

 ⇒ a2 - a1 = a3 - a2

⇒ a - ⅘ = 2 - a

⇒a + a = 2 + ⅘  

⇒2a = (10 + 4)/5

⇒ 2a = 14/5

⇒ a = 14/5. 2

a = 7/5

Hence, the value of a is 7/5.
