if if x +\frac{1}{2} = 2, what is the value of  x^{2} +\frac{1}{x^{2} }

Answer:

x +  \frac{1}{2}  = 2

Therefore,

x = 2 -  \frac{1}{2}

x =  \frac{3}{2}

Hence,

 {x}^{2}  =   {( \frac{3}{2} })^{2}

 {x}^{2}  =  \frac{9}{4}

So x^2+1/x^2=97/36
