If the acceleration due to gravity at a height ‘h’ from the surface of the earth is 96% less than its value on the surface, then h is (where R is the radius of the earth).

According to question,

g at the height is 4% of g on Earth.

g(h)=4%ofg

=(4/100)g

.04g=g(1-(2h/R))

.04=1-(2h/R)

(2h/R)=.96

h=.48 R
