Sound is measured on a logarithmic scale.
A factor of two is 0.3 db in amplitude, a factor of 0.6db in power.
Power is what is usually quoted, rather than amplitude, perhaps because it is more directly measurable.

myttha54: I just wanted to know the factor, they said if it increases by 3 then the factor will 9
myttha54: so what about four?
