The sum of the complementary angles are 180 so add up both of them
4y+4+6y-4=180
10y=180
Y=18
Hope it helps........

add them

first remove the brackets

(the sum of complementary angle is 180)

then do grouping

the answer will come, 4y+6y+4-4=180

cancel +4 and -4

the number left is 10y=180

y=180/10

so the answer is 18
