If the annual increase in the population of town be 2 % and the present population 65025 , what was it two years ago ?

formula used : P / ( 1 + R/100 )^n

here , n = 2 years

R = 2 %

P = 65025

by substituting the values ,

= P / ( 1 + R/100 )^n

= 65025 / ( 1+2/100 )²

= 65025 / ( 51/50 × 51/50 )

= 65025 × 2500 / 2601

= 62500

Hence , the population would be 62500 2 years earlier .
