Given : area of a trapezium is 48 cm²

distance between parallel sides is 8 cm,

To Find :  sum of the parallel sides

Solution:

area of a trapezium  = (1/2) ( sum of parallel sides) ( distance between parallel sides)

area of a trapezium  = 48 cm²

distance between parallel sides = 8 cm

Substitute in formula

=> 48  = (1/2)  ( sum of parallel sides)  8

=> 48  =  ( sum of parallel sides)  4

=> 12 = sum of parallel sides

=> sum of parallel sides = 12 cm

sum of the parallel sides is 12 cm
