So, the height of the perpendicular

= √[x^2 - (x/2)^2]

= √[x^2 - (x^2)/4]

= x(√3)/2

Now the area of the triangle = (1/2) × x × x(√3)/2

= (x^2)(√3)/4

According to the question,

(x^2)(√3)/4 = 9(√3) sq cm

x = 6 cm

So, the perimeter of the equilateral triangle= 3x

= 3 × 6

= 18 cm
