In Heron's formula, s is the semi-perimeter (one-half the perimeter of the triangle).

s = 1/2 ( a + b + c )

Area = sqrt ( s ( s-a) ( s-b) ( s-c) )

Therefore ,

⇒ ½[x(4 – 5) + 4(5 – 3) + 3(3 – 4)] = 4

⇒ (–x + 5) = 8

⇒ x = –3
