The median of the given data is 3.5

Given,

The arithmetic mean of x-3 , x-1, 7, x, 2x-1 , 3x-5 is 3.5

To Find,

The median of these terms.

Solution,

The formula for the mean is

Mean = sum of observations/total observations

3.5 = (x-3+ x-1+7+x+2x-1+3x-5)/6

6*3.5 = 8x-3

8x = 24

x = 3

Putting the value of x in the given terms

0, 2, 7, 3, 5, 4

Arranging them in ascending order

0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7

For, 6 terms the median is

Median = ( 3rd term/2 + 4th term/2)

Median = ( 3/2+4/2) = 3.5

Hence, the median of the given data is 3.5
