let the sum of ages of doctors and lawyers be A and B
and the no. of doctors and lawyers be m and n
then  (A+B)/(n+m)=40
A/m=35,  B/n=50
A=35m , B=50n
(A+B)/(n+m)=(35m+50n)/(n+m)=40
35m+50n=40n+40m
10n=5m
n=2m
therefore
(sum of ages of doctor)/(sum of ages of lawyers)=(A/B)
A/B=35m/50n=35m/100m=0.35
