we know that the average of anything is the ratio of sum of all the quantities to the number of quantities.




Mathematically,


 \bf{Average = \dfrac{ sum \: of \: quantities }{ number \: of \: quantities }}




In the question,


quantities = 48 , 25 , 20 , 35 , x


sum of quantities = 48 + 25 + 20 + 35 + x = 128 + x


number of quantities = 5




Hence,

25 = ( 128 + x ) / 5

25 × 5 = 128 + x

125 = 128 + x

125 - 128 = x

- 3 = x



therefore the value of x satisfying the question is - 3 .
