Concept

The average is defined as the mean value that equals the ratio of the sum of the number of values in a given set to the total number of values in the set. The formula for calculating the average of given numbers or values is very simple. We simply add all of the numbers and divide the result by the number of values provided.

Given

Here, the average of A, B, and C = 32

Average of A and B = 30

Find

We have to find the value of C.

Solution

Let the value of A, B and C is x, y, and z respectively.

Now, (x + y + z)/3 = 32

i.e. x + y + z = 3*32 = 96 …(1)

and (x + y)/2 = 30

i.e. x + y = 2*30 = 60 …(2)

Subtracting (2) from (1),

x + y + z - x - y = 96 - 60

i.e z = 36

Hence, the value of C is 36.
