If the circumference if a circle exceeds the diameter by "pi" i.e 3.142 units, then find the diameter of the circle.

Circumference of a circle = Diameter + π

2πr = 2r + π
2πr - 2r = π
2r (π-1) = π

Taking the value of π = 3.142 ; we get

2r (3.142-1) = 3.142
2r = 3.142/2.142
2r = 1.466

Diameter = 1.466 units
