The temperature of hot junction at which thermo emf is maximum is known as neutral temperature , Tn . And the temperature of hot junction at which thermo emf in a thermocouple becomes zero is known as inversion Temperature, Ti
Neutral temperature and inversion Temperature are shown in figure .
Here it is clear that ,
Tn - T = Tn - Ti
Ti = 2Tn - T
But T = 0°C
so, Ti = 2Tn
Hence , inversion Temperature is two times of neutral temperature
