Given :-

◉ Concentration of 250ml of an aqueous solution of acetone is 20% (v/v)

To Find :-

◉ Concentration of acetone present.

Solution :-

We know, Concentration k% of some element is given by v/v (volume/volume). It indirectly means, k ml of solution of that element is present in 100ml of solution.

Here,

⇒ 20% of acetone means 20 ml of acetone is present in 100 ml of solution.

But, We are given that the volume of solution is 250ml.

We have,

100 ml Solution has 20 ml acetone.

∴ 1 ml of solution would 20/100 or 1/5 ml acetone.

Which also means that one fifth of a solution is acetone. No matter, what is the volume of solution given, say if it is given x volume then x/5 would be the volume of acetone.

So,

⇒ Volume of acetone = 250/5

Volume of acetone = 50 ml

Some Information :-

◉ If it is given w/w as k% of some element then k gram of that element is present in 100 gram of solution.

  • Mass of solution = 100 - k
