Concept:

The length of the line segment connecting two places is referred to as the distance between them. In coordinate geometry, the length of the line segment linking the provided coordinates may be used to compute the distance between two locations.

Given:

The point A (1,0).

The point B(0,7).

Find:

The distance d(A, B).

Solution:

The distance between two points (x₁,y₁) and (x₂, y₂) = \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

The distance between the coordinates A and B = \sqrt{(0-1)^2 + (7-0)^2}

                                                                = \sqrt{1 + 49}

                                                                = \sqrt{50}

                                                                =\sqrt{25*2}

                                                                =5\sqrt{2}

Hence, the distance between the coordinates A and Bis 5\sqrt{2}.
