my solution :

• it is known that, the distance between two points is obtained by subtracting the smaller co-ordinate from the lager co-ordinate

• the coordinates are of A and B are x and y respectively. we have, x=4 and y=-8. we know 4 > -8. so, therefore d(A,B) = x - y = 4 - (-8) = 4+ 8 = 12

thus therefore the result we obtain here is 12
