If the correct DNA sequence is AAA TAT CCG TAG GAA and the following mutations occur AAG TAT CCG TAG GAT. Which would be considered a silent mutation?

  • Silent mutation is occur when the change occurs in single nucleotides.
  • It generally effects on phenotype DNA .
  • So ,in above example the examples of silent mutations are
  • AAA - AAG
  • GAA - GAT.
  • In this 2 sequence changes occurs in only 1 amino acids i.e. nucleotide
  • Another type of mutation is point mutation.
  • Sickle cell anaemia is a example of point mutation.
