Solution - a) Potatoes bought for Rs. 88 = 8 kg

Potatoes bought for Rs. 60.5 =  \frac{8}{88}  \times 60.5

Performing multiplication and division

Potatoes bought for Rs. 60.5 = 5.5 kg

b) Cost of 8 kg potatoes = Rs. 88

Cost of 17 kg potatoes =  \frac{88}{8}  \times 17

Performing multiplication and division

Cost of 17 kg potatoes = Rs. 187

Hence, the weight of potatoes bought for rupees 60.50 is 5.5 kg and the cost of 17 kg of potatoes is Rs. 187.
