Given: Cost of cake of dimensions 10 cm × 5 cm × 5 cm is Rs. 100.

∴ Rate of cake = Rs (100)/(250 cm³) = Rs ⅖ per cm³

Now, to find the cost of the cake of dimensions 20 cm × 15 cm × 15 cm.

Total cost = (Dimensions)(Rate)

⇒ Cost = Rs (20 × 15 × 15 cm³)(⅖ cm^-3)

⇒ Cost = Rs 5500 × ⅖

⇒ Cost = Rs 2200

ALITER:

x || 250 cm³ || 5500 cm³ (volume)

y || Rs 100 || m (cost)

Let the cost be (m).

∴ It is a case of direct variation.

⇒ x/y = k (constant)

⇒ (250)/(100) = (5500)/(m)

⇒ m = 5500 × ⅖

⇒ m = Rs. 2200.
