If the diagonals of a parallelogram are equal, then show that it is a rectangle. Since ABCD is a parallelogram and one of its interior angles is 900, ABCD is a rectangle

In triangle DAB and CBA,

DA =BC (opposite sides of parallelogram)

AB =AB(common )

BD=AC

By SSS,

DAB =CBA (CPCT)

DAB +CBA =180(adjacent angles of the parallelogram)

DAB +DAB =180

2DAB =180

DAB =

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \frac{180}{2}  = 90

In a parallelogram ABCD,

DAB =90°

Hence proved,

ABCD is a rectangle
