Let a be the diagonal of first square. Then 2a will be the diagonal of square 2
Area1 = a^/2
Area2= (2a)^2/2
= 4a^2/2
=4Area1
So area1:area2=1:4
Area1 = a^/2
Area2= (2a)^2/2
= 4a^2/2
=4Area1
So area1:area2=1:4
