Answer:

Let the answer be x.

$200040%=x60%

x=$2000⋅60%40%

x=$2000⋅32

x=$3000

Method using the total sum

Because $2000 is 40% of total, then $1000 is 20%=15 of total, so the total is 5∗$1000=$5000.

So, 60% of total is 60%∗$5000=60100∗$5000=$3000

Answer:

Let the number be X

Now 60% of it = 60X/100 =0.6X

40% of it = 40X/100 = 0.4X

difference = 0.6X - 0.4X = 0.2X

A/Q difference =2000

=》 0.2X = 2000 =》 X = 2000/0.2 = 10,000
