Firstly we have to find out smallest five digit perfect cube and greatest four digit perfect cube.

To find smallest five digit perfect cube,

Consider smallest five digit number which is 10000.

Now take cube root of 10000 is 21.544 ~ 22

223=10648

So smallest five digit perfect cube is 10648.

Similarly find out greatest four digit perfect cube.

Consider greatest four digit number which is 9999.

Now take cube root of 9999 is 21.543 ~ 22 but

223 is five digit so take 213=9261

The difference between smallest five digit perfect cube and greatest four digit perfect cube is 10648 - 9261 = 1387 = a

So ( a - 56 ) = 1387 - 50 = 1337.
