If the difference in boiling points of two liquids is almost same then which technique is used to separate them?
Answers
Answer:
Fractional Distillation
Explanation:
Fractional distillation is a modified distillation process that allows the separation of liquids with similar boiling points.

Chromatography is the first method that comes to mind, and probably the best if you have the equipment available. If you don’t have an HPLC instrument, you can try cooling them until one freezes and then separating the solid from the liquid.
Another option is centrifugation, if the two liquids have significantly different densities. You’d have to decant at least one of the layers as soon as the centrifuge stops or they’ll mix again, but it would separate the two liquids. It’s definitely not as good as chromatography, but it would work. The big disadvantage of chromatography is that it can be time consuming, but centrifugation would also be quite time consuming.
The best option is definitely HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography), which separates liquids by forcing them through a column packed with (usually) silica coated with organic ligands.
