x-y=26
x=y+26

now squares
x2-y2=1716
(y+26)2-y2=1716
y2+676+52y-y2=1716
676+52y=1716
52y=1020
y=20

so age of deepika=20
her mother age=20+26=46

and her Deepika be y

• Difference of their age is 26 years

x - y = 26

x = 26 + y ....... ( i )


• Difference of squares of their age is 1716



x² - y² = 1716 .... ( ii )


Putting value of x from ( i ) in ( ii )

( 26 + y )² - y² = 1716

676 + y² + 52y - y² = 1716

52y = 1716 - 676

52y = 1040

y = 20

Putting value of y in ( i )

x = 26 + y

x = 26 + 20

x = 46

So, the age of mother is ( x ) :- 46 years
and the age of Deepika is ( y ) :- 20 years.
