if the differnce of any two no. is 3 and differnce of their square is 39 find the greatest number

x-y=3. _______(1)
x²-y²=39
(x+y)(x-y)=39
(x+y)3=39
x+y=13. ________(2)
solving eqs
we get
x= 8 y= 5

let one number = x
so other number will be x+3

difference in square = (x+3)^2 - x^2 = 39
x^2 + 9 + 6x -x^2=39

9+6x=39
=6x=30
x=5
so bigger number was x +3=8
