Discriminant of Equation 1 = b² - 4ac

                                         = (2)² - 4 (3)(a)

                                         = 4 - 12a

Discriminant of Equation 2 = b² - 4ac

                                         = (-4)² - 4 (1)(2)

                                         = 16 - 8

                                         = 8

According To Question

Discriminant of Equation 1 = 2 × Discriminant of Equation 2

4 - 12a = 2 × 8

4 - 12a = 16

-12a = 12

12a = -12

a = -1

Answer:

Discriminant of Equation 1 = b² - 4ac

                                         = (2)² - 4 (3)(a)

                                         = 4 - 12a

Discriminant of Equation 2 = b² - 4ac

                                         = (-4)² - 4 (1)(2)

                                         = 16 - 8

                                         = 8

According To Question

Discriminant of Equation 1 = 2 × Discriminant of Equation 2

4 - 12a = 2 × 8

4 - 12a = 16

-12a = 12

12a = -12

a = -1
