length of the day depends only on its rotational speed. and the same angular velocity (rotational speed), the day would be the same, 24 hours.

Answer:
If the earth will contract suddenly the length of the day will decrease because it's radius would decreses and moment of inertia also decreases. Since moment of inertia is directly proportional to the radius² . The angular velocity will increase too and the length of the day decreases in order to complete one rotation.
