Answer: Option C

According to the problem the expression in the form

                       A(b)n

a = initial number of customers who applied

b = rate of increase in the number of people who applied every month

n = number of month since the bank opened

        = 27 (1.2)4 = 27 x 2.04

Therefore, option C is correct

There were 2.07 times as many people who applied in the 4th month as in the first month
