Answer : The electronegativity of element in Pauling scale will be, 60.44 kcal/mole

Explanation :

First we have to calculate the electronegativity form the Mulliken's scale.

Formula used :

\chi_{Mulliken's}=\frac{IE+EA}{2}

where,

\chi_{Mulliken's} = electronegativity of the Mulliken's scale = ?

IE = ionization enthalpy = 275 kcal/mole

EA = electron affinity = 86 kcal/mole

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get:

\chi_{Mulliken's}=\frac{275+86}{2}=180.5kcal/mole

Now we have to calculate the electronegativity of element in Pauling scale.

Formula used :

\chi_{Pauling}=0.336(\chi_{Mulliken's}-0.615)

\chi_{Pauling}=0.336(180.5-0.615)=60.44kcal/mole

Therefore, the electronegativity of element in Pauling scale will be, 60.44 kcal/mole
