First Law Of Motion : An object continues to be in motion or at rest unless and until an external and an unbalanced force is acted upon the object.
In the case mentioned in the question, the ball continues to move following the Law of motion. But due to an external force called Frictional force, the ball stops after sometime.
So The first law is proved correct on the above experiment.
