Answer :

Angle of elevation (a) = 60°.

Step by step explanation :-

Given :

  • Height of pole = 2√3 m
  • Length of the Shadow = 2 m

To Find:

  • Angle of elevation of the sun (a)

Construction:

Draw a line joining the tip of pole and the end of Shadow.Thus,forming a right-angled triangle.

Solution:

Refer to the figure for better understanding.

According to the right-angled triangle formed,

Let the height of pole be AC.

And,Length of Shadow as BC.

Angle of elevation (a) = tan a

As ,we know

tan \: a =  \dfrac{perpendicular}{base}

Then,

tan \: a =  \frac{AC}{BC}

tan \: a =  \frac{2 \sqrt{3} }{2}

tan \: a =  \sqrt{3}

Hence,

a \:  =  {tan}^{ - 1} (\sqrt{3}  )

a = 60°

Therefore,the angle of elevation of the sun is 60°.
