If the Himalayas of our India are not there in their current position - then it will bring many climatic changes in India because Himalayas protect India from the cold, biting winds blowing from North Asia. So, the winters of North India are milder than those beyond the mountains.

  • 2)The Himalayas act as  barriers protecting the great plains of India from the cold winds of central Asia during severe winter.

  • 3)By virtue of their high altitude,length and directions,they effectvely intercept the summer monsoons coming from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea and cause precipitation in the form of ain or snow.

  • 4)Without the Himalayas the whole of India would have been a desert in the absence of precipitation and it's winters wouid have beeen very severe owing to cold air coming from Central Asia.
