by Pythagoras theorem

(H)²=(P)²+(B)²

(8 \sqrt{2} )²=x²+x²

16×2=2x²

32/2=x²

x²=16

x= \sqrt{16}

x=4 cm

area of the triangle

= 1/2× B × H

=1/2×4×4

=8cm²
