If the image formed by a spherical mirror for all positions of the object placed in front of it is always erect and diminished, then the type of mirror is CONVEX mirror.

RAY DIAGRAM:

  • Any incident ray parallel to principal axis, will appear to be passing through focus after reflection from convex mirror(ray 1 in figure).
  • Any incident ray appear to be passing through center of curvature remains undeviated after reflection from convex mirror(ray 2 in figure).
  • These two rays meet at a point where erect, diminished and virtual image of the object is formed.
