px + 3y – 7 = 0
-1p - 12 - 7= 0
-1p -19 = 0
-1p = 19
p = -19

The value of p is 1.

Given:

A line of equation px+3y-7 = 0 and a point (3,8) with its image is (-1,-4)

To Find:

Value of p

Solution:

The point is (3,8) and its image is (-1,-4)

The mid -point of both the points lies on the line.

And it satisfy the equation of line.

So, mid point = (\frac{3-1}{2},\frac{8-4}{2})

Mid point = (1,2)

this point lies on the line and it satisfy the equation of line.

p+3*2-7 =0

p = 1

Hence, the value of p is 1.
