Question:-

If the K.E. of a body becomes 4 times, the the new momentum will be?

a. become half

b. become twice

c. become sixteen times

Answer:-

New momentum will become twice i.e

2 times.

Explanation:-

We know that, the relationship between kinetic energy and momentum is:-

=> K.E. = /2m

From the above formula:-

=> p² = 2m×K.E.

=> p = 2m×K.E. ----(1)

Now, when K.E.(kinetic energy) of the body becomes 4 times, then p' i.e new momentum, will be:-

=> p' = √2m×4K.E.

=> p' = 2√2m×K.E. ---(2)

Now, on dividing eq.2 by eq.1, we get:-

=> p'/p = 2√2m×K.E./√2m×K.E.

=> p'/p = 2

=> p' = 2p

Thus, the new momentum

becomes twice or two times.
