Answer:

LCM of two number is always product of both the number

SO, In this case 253 =a*b

Factors of 253 are 11and23

8b=11*8 =88

3a=23*3 =69

8b-3a=80-69=19

Given:

LCM of two prime numbers, a and b is 253

To find:

the value of 8b-3a

Solution:

As both, the numbers are prime numbers (which means that they are divisible only by 1 or themselves) it is not possible for them to have any factors and the product of both these numbers a and b is equal to 253

a×b = 253

LCM stands for the least common multiple,

LCM ( a,b)

= 253

= 23 × 11 × 1

so we obtain

a = 23

b = 11

Now substituting the values in 8b-3a

=8b-3a

It can either be

= 184 - 33

= 151

OR

a = 11

b = 23

= 88-69

=19

Therefore the value of 8b-3a is either 151 or 10.
