length of diagonal = root(l×l + b×b)
= root(100+ 400)
= root 500

Question:-

if the length and breadth of a rectangle are 10cm and 20cm ,find the length of its diagonal

Solution:-

Given:-

1. length and breadth of rectangle are 10 cm and 20 cm respectively.

let, AB = CD = 20 cm and

AD = BC = 10 cm

Find:-

1. length of diagonal of rectangle.

let, diagonals = AC = BD = ?

we know

The property of rectangle:-

1. interior angles of rectangle are of 90°.

2. opposite side of rectangle are equal.

3. diagonals of rectangle bisect each other at 90°.

4. both diagonals of rectangle are equal.

So now

To find length of diagonal

we use Pythagoras theorem.

=> (AC)² = (AB)² + (BC)²

=> (AC)² = (20)² + (10)²

=> (AC)² = 400 + 100

=> (AC)² = 500

=> AC = √500 = √100×5

=> AC = 10√5 cm.

Hence the length of diagonals AC and BD is 10√5 cm.

i hope it helps you.
