if the length and breadth of a rectangular field are 80 m and 60 m respectively and a 3 meter wide path has been made from the edges inside it then what will be the area of the path?​

length - 60 m

dimensions of path b

width - 3 m

length - 80 m

area of a

3 m x 60 m = 180 m square

area of b

3m x 80 m = 240 m square

total path area - 240 m square + 180 m square

- 420 m square

now since they intersect each other at the same path twice

we need to subtract the area of intersection to find the area of the total path

now remember that the edge or side of the path was 3 m

so if we take 3 m at a and b

they form a square

if we find the area of the intersection path then it will be

3 m x 3 m ( side x side) in square

that is 9 m square

so 420 m square - 9 m square is 411 m square so the path are will be 411 m square
