Given :-

length of the rectangle = 20cm

breadth of the rectangle = 16cm

formula to find the perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + b)

perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l + b)

= 2(20 + 16)

= 2 × 36

= 72cm

ATQ,

perimeter of rectangle = perimeter of square

therefore perimeter of the square = 72cm

➡ side × 4 = 72cm

➡ side = 72/4

➡ side = 18cm

the side of the square is 18cm.

now,

area of the rectangle = length × breadth

= 20 × 16

= 320cm²

area of the square = side × side

= 18 × 18

= 324cm²

ratio between their areas :-

= 324/320

= 81/80

hence, the ratio between the area of the rectangle to the square is 81 : 80

Answer:

Given

Length of rectangle = 20 cm

Breadth of rectangle = 16 cm

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

★ 2(20 + 16) cm

★ 2(36) cm

★ 72 cm..........[perimeter of rectangle]

As, above in the question it is written that perimeter of rectangle is equal to perimeter of square . So,

perimeter of square = perimeter of rectangle

4 * side = 72 cm

side = 72/4 cm

side = 18 cm ...........[side]

___________________

As we know that area of square = side * side

Area of square = 18 * 18

area of square = 324 cm².......[area]

And, area of rectangle = Length * breadth

» 20 * 16

» 320 cm².........[area of rectangle]

Know ratio between their areas is

» 324 / 320

» 81 / 80

Hence, ratio between their areas is 81:80
