Let the initial rectangle, ABCD have sides of 10 cm and 5 cm. Its perimeter will be 2(10+5) = 2*15 = 30 cm.

The next larger rectangle, PQRS has sides of 20 cm and 10 cm. Its perimeter will be 2(20+10) = 2*30 = 60 cm.

So the perimeter of a rectangle whose sides are doubled over an earlier one will be double that of the older one.

However the area becomes four times the initial rectangle, on doubling the sides of the rectangle
