If the length, breadth and height of a room are 6 m, 5 m and 3 m, respectively, what will

be the cost of white washing the walls of the room and the ceiling at the rate of Rs.6 per

square meter?

Length = 6m
breadth = 5m
height = 3m

Walls and ceiling will be white washed.

Area of walls = lateral surface area

LSA = 2h(l+b)

=> LSA = 2×3(6+5)

=> LSA = 66 m^2

Area of ceiling = lb = 6×5 = 30 m^2

Total area to be whitewashed = 66+30 = 96 m^2

Rate = ₹6 per m^2

Cost = 96 × 6 = ₹576

Hence cost of white washing is ₹576
