if the length of a diagonal of a quadrilateral is 10 centimetre and length of the perpendicular on it from opposite vertices are 4 cm and 6 CM then area of quadrilateral is

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

this quadrilateral would be having two triangles 

one triangle with base 10 cm and height 4 cm
one triangle with base 10 cm and height 6cm

now 
the area of triangle is 1/2 X base X height

so 
for the 1st triangle 

1/2 X 10 X 4 
30  cm^{2} ----------1
now for the second triangle

1/2 X 10 X 6
20  cm^{2}  --------------2


now adding 1 and 2 we get

30 + 20
50  cm^{2}

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
