SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • The length of a rectangle is (2x+3) cm and width is (2x+1) cm

  • The perimeter of rectangle is 168cm.

TO DETERMINE

The area.

EVALUATION

Here it is given that length of a rectangle is (2x+3) cm and width is (2x+1) cm

So perimeter

= 2( 2x + 3 + 2x + 1 ) cm

= 2( 4x + 4 ) cm

So by the given condition

 \sf{2(4x + 4) = 168}

 \sf{ \implies \: 8(x + 1) = 168}

 \sf{ \implies \: (x + 1) = 21}

 \sf{ \implies \: x = 20}

So length = 43 cm and width = 41 cm

Hence the required area

= 43 × 41 cm²

= 1763 cm²
